What a suprise!

Tonight when I got home there was a pile of mail waiting to be sorted. We hadn't picked it up since Thursday and with two package type things in there I guess it was a tight fit. Jay had started making fajitas (and he doesn't know how to cook) so I promplty took over and ripped open a large stuffed envelope addressed to me while stirring onions and proceeded to the sink to wash and cut the peppers. I was expecting my swap group samples which are due back. I thought it was wierd they were not in the priority mail envelope I'd included but there were peppers to cut! Then I spied out of the corner of my eye a picture of my friend Shannon and thought "what the heck?"

She sent me a beautiful card, and artist journal, and this awesome Artists Survial Kit (aka kick in the ass to start creating!) I LOVE it! Yes that's her on the cover, being her silly sexy self. Inside there is a Top 10 of what not to do which I will share because I think it's something everyone who creates anything should hear. There's also a binder cliped thick stack of somthing that says it's for really bad day, and I'm going to save it for just that.

I am so blessed to have the amazing friends and family I do. The people in my life remind me daily of what is really important and how blessed I am to have them in my life.

How to Feel Miserable as an Artist

1) Constantly compare yourself to other artists.
2) Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.
3) Base the success of your entire career on one project.
4) Stick with what you know.
5) Undervalue your expertise.
6) Let money dictate what you do.
7) Bow to societal pressures.
8) Only do work that your family would love.
9) Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.
10) Set unachievable/overwhelming goals. To be accomplished by tomorrow.
