A Christmas Thank You

I'm alive! I was able to sneak in a few hours of stamping this weekend and wanted to share the thank you card I've created to send out to all those who spoiled the kids and us this year (there were a lot!). I had to make sure it was simple because I had only about an hour left to design and create 8 cards. I picked up my Lawn Fawn ornament set which hadn't seen ink yet and the perfect little sentiment from a Paper Trey Ink set.

The images are colored in with copics and embellished with yellow crystals. I kept my shading simple to just a deep red for the outline and an orangish red for coloring and blending.

Basket of Wishes

I've saved this card that I made on WCMD to share at this weeks Friends with Flair blog hop. It's the first time these super cute images have touched ink. I always wanted to use them but had some trouble of thinking of a layout for this bicycle image to really shine. Adding the texture image on the card base helped bring in more color and allowed the image to pop. I also had a lot of fun playing with my new edger die cut from Paper Trey Ink. I just love the curved scallop and how effortless it is to add to the card.

Copic Textures

Today I gave faux texture with copic blending solution a try and have to say I like the results. For this card I used the same texture but next time I'll play with different fabrics to acheive more pronouced effects. I colored my images as usual with my copics, being sure to saturate the paper. After I finished I soaked a scrap piece of twill tape in the blending solution and dabbed on my images. Because copic ink is alcohol based it dries very fast. I had to resoak the fabric often.

A few techniques

It's been a while since I've posted because I've been spending my weekday evenings at the gym. After sitting all day long it feels great to move around. Here are a few things I made this weekend that showcase copics and a technique I have no idea what you'd call.

First we'll start with the nameless one. For this I stamped the daisy image in memento black. I highly recomend you use this or Stazon and not Stampin' Up Basic Black. The SU black has just too much of a purple tint and doesn't give me the rich black I crave. After you have that stamped simple pick up a little white craft ink with a blender pen and brush on the petals right over the top. After that is finished I took my Sanded BG stamp inked in Sahara Sand and stamped right over everything!

All supplies Stampin' Up! with the exception of the memento black ink.

Here's my second card done with copics. I really love the wide spectrum of colors you get with these markers. I lined the edges of these bottles with a very pale aqua to give the appearance of glass. There's even a touch of shading on what I'm prentending are giant chocolate peanut butter maltballs (mummmm) and the orange slices.

Copic Rose

Here's a practice piece I did with my Copic markers to play with the blending of color. I see some room for improvement and learned quite a bit in the process but I love how this card turned out. All of the white is shimmery white which makes this really special in person.
