Faux Cloisonne'

There was an early post for Monday's Technique Challenge this evening and I took advantage since I won't have time to play on Monday. It's similar to altered art which I've been playing with. This is the kind of stuff that leave me feeling like an artist, like it's really more than just a card. Yes, it's still a card...but it really does feel like more! It also validates my habit of buying 4-8 magazines per month. You never know what I'll find to use later in there!

To create the Faux Cloisonne you simply choose an outline stamp image and select any image with glossy paper. This could be a magazine, calendar, flyer...anything will do so long as it's glossy. Then stamp your image with versamark or embossing fluid and embossing in gold (or get wild and try another metalic such as copper). One you've cut your image out you will want to be careful since it's fragile. I attached mine to the paper with Mono Multi liquid adhesive. Then once it was attached I filled in the image with Crystal Effects (or as some of my stamping friends call it, "Crystal Meth"). Since I had an inkling I wanted to use the EC I chose the Multi adhesive since the standard dry stuff wouldn't have given full coverage and been prone to curling.

For this card I use an oldie but goodie All Natural. I found this image in a photo of a living room. It's a Gerhard Richter painting that was above a fire place. The Mustard paper is a scrap of Bazil paper I had in the scrap bag and then black grosgrain.

Gorgeous! I love the paper you chose for the pears. Pears are a favourite image of mine so I thought this card was especially eye-catching in the scs challenge gallery. Beautiful job!

Just stunning! I want to play with this technique sometime soon -- unfortunately I forgot DD dumped all my embossing powders out before we moved so I currently only have clear . . . YIKES!
